Our Story

FAUNA Circus was formed in 2016 by six world class performers from around the globe - five acrobats who met at the world's leading circus school, Sweden's DOCH, and an award winning live musician - when they were offered a British Arts Council grant to develop and present part of a show at the Glastonbury Festival of Performing Arts. From there, the 2017 Adelaide Fringe Festival was an opportunity to develop a debut full length show.

In it's first incarnation, the self titled "Fauna" received 5 star reviews, a Best Circus and Physical Theatre award, and the Emerging Artist award. Further creation followed with multiple residencies in Sweden, Germany, and the Czech Republic, and the finished version premiered at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, winning the Total Theatre & Jacksons Lane award for Best Circus.

And that was just the beginning.

Since then; the original show has toured to more than 20 countries and performed to over 50,000 people; the team has expanded to include more performers and technical staff, and; the company has released 2 new productions...

- "Fruiting Bodies", an 18 minute long video project produced remotely during the Covid Pandemic, and

- "It Shouldn't Have Legs", the second full length production featuring original costumes, customised rigging and structural installations, animations, and even custom built circus apparatus.
